Literacy includes a range of skills including reading, writing, speaking and listening. A literate person will be able to communicate effectively with others and to understand written information. This can be either handwritten or in an electronic format.

Children around 3-5 years love to be read to as well as trying to participate in word recognition. Here are some recommendations which will encourage children to enjoy learning.

Grammar (Understanding English KS2) by Carol Matchett

Key Stage 2 English Practice Papers by Carol Matchett 

As your child gets closer to the SATS test reinforce their learning and identify any areas of weakness by doing practice papers. These four papers are created in the format of the actual papers, so give children an ideal preparation. Being used to the format also increases confidence when they sit down to do the tests.
