After the cold winter we are all looking forward to longer sunnier days and the coming of Spring. Everyone is cheered up when the gardens spring to life and have some bright flowers. With Spring we have holidays and Easter eggs are to be seen everywhere in the shops. We thought we would compile a page to celebrate the coming of Spring and give you some ideas which you might like to use during the school holidays. Spring is a time to once again enjoy being outside and to grow plants which you can watch grow and mature during the summmer months.

Celebrations for Spring. These pages are meant to be a celebration that Spring has arrived and that everyone can enjoy more sunny days and be able to meet outside to play, to chat and to be happy.

Books and games about Spring, Easter and activities

Easter Fun (Usborne First Activities) by Fiona Watt

This book is ideal for younger children and it's good to see attention being given to the younger end of the market. Young children love to be creative and it's great to encourage this. The activities are perfect for adults and children to do together - or for teachers to use in the classroom. The materials needed are easily come by and inexpensive; the step-by-step instructions are clear and well illustrated. Children can make printed chicks, Easter egg tags and finger-printed tree blossoms - and then decorate them with the colourful stickers included. Of course, the activities are fun but children will also be developing a range of key skills including coordination and concentration.

Busy Bees Easter by Jocelyn Miller

This is a lovely book for the family to share and enjoy making the simple crafts suitable for three year olds up. It makes a great resource for teachers too. The stickers are an added bonus and can be used to decorate the crafts, painting and puzzles, or for inspiring other activities. Activities include an Easter card, a spring flower, Easter bunting, an Easter basket and much much more. Easy to follow instructions with plenty of step by step illustrations make the book fun and practical to use and hopefully you will see some great results!

Easter Cooking (Easter Activities) by Rebecca Gilpin

The step-by-step recipes in this colourful book are ideal for children to follow - and there's advice on cooking safely. Each recipe is presented over a double page, which gives plenty of scope for clear instructions and step by step pictures. The recipes are easy to follow and the ideas on wrapping and presentation mean they are ideal to make as Easter gifts. Recipes include sunshine toast, coloured eggs and chirpy chick cakes.
