As this is such a busy time of the year in school we have provided you with some ideas which will be useful both in school and for work to be enjoyed by your pupils at home. I particularly found the story 'New Hats for statues' useful to read at story time. We hope you all have a peaceful and enjoyable holiday.
If you use the Fun poems worksheet it may give your pupils ideas of their own. Teaching about celebrations around the world is both interesting for them to learn and it is useful to introduce new traditions that may lead to lively discussions in the classroom.
Children love stories. Try reading the suggested stories and introduce the Christmas spelling words to add to their vocabulary. We have included a sound worksheet and phonic blends to reinforce this spelling.
I have found the Alice in Wonderland topic excellent in stimulating children into imaginative thought processes. It is always good preparation to have a worksheet children can do by themselves so try the 'Christmas time' paper.
