Teacher newsletter June 2016

Parents in Touch

Dear [NAME]
June is always a busy month in school with preparation for sports day, new parents meetings and leavers day. We have provided an 'Information for parents and school ' paper which you may provide to new parents.

 lesson plan
Teachers' pages
Many school trips are undertaken at this time of the year so hopefully the lesson plan on journeys will be helpful. 'Teaching writing in sentences' will be useful when planning future lessons.
It is essential that all children can perform well at mental arithmetic. The worksheets below are designed to help you prepare for end of term tests.
Here are a selection of worksheets to use as revision. Try the ones suitable for your class's age group and ensure that they can spell all the words correctly.
Children at this age usually love colouring. Encourage them to colour neatly and to try and keep the pencil inside the lines. The 'Stepping stones' paper will introduce some new words.
Spelling and  Phonics
Phonics aid reading so use this 'Phonic sounds' worksheet with your class. The 'Sporting words to spell' worksheet could be used as a quiz.
We all take clean water for granted but many people do not have it. They wil enjoy 'Recording the weather' and comparing it with other parts of the country.
Take a look at our super Giveaways for this month. We have lots of fiction to encourage reading - The Cat in the Hat, The Misadventures of Max Crumbly, Alice Through the Looking Glass, and The World of Norm: Includes Delivery. There are two new Mr Men adventures and Squirrel Me Timbers for younger readers. Egmont Readers are great for young learners and for crafters, there's Now I Can Sew. Last, but certainly not least, two superb jigsaws.

Books  For lots more ideas on reading take a look at our Best new books pages.
